Have you ever been so excited to share a spiritual experience you've had with someone else that you just share it with anyone and everyone as excitedly as possible?! Or maybe even shared it with only people you felt would appreciate to hear about your experience? Only to find each person's reactions to your story to be super disappointing? I've been there too. I think we all have. There's a very good reason for this happening....
The moment you experienced was so magical that no words could put it into context. The experience just somehow loses a little bit of it's magic once it's spoken. Your friends say "cool" and you're disappointed that no one else experienced the moment but you, and because of this nobody believes how wonderful the experience was! Why does this happen? This situation occurs for many reasons (and to everyone who is open to magic at some point).
For one reason, it is to remind you that what you saw was for you only. Some magic in this universe is only meant to experience alone. It is an intimate relationship between you and the universal life force energy. It is to remind you of your sacred, and personal connection to the Divine.
The universe is testing your trust between you, yourself, and the universe. Can you trust in what the universe is showing or telling you? If you are sharing your experiences with others, whether you realize it or not, you might be subconsciously searching for confirmation from others. You might really be hoping for someone else to tell you they've had a similar experience, and you aren't crazy. Or maybe, you're hoping to hear you are special for having such an experience?
With the boom in spiritual interest, and the grand number of awakenings that have been taking place lately, it's easy to compare your journey to that of others. Or to even have others compare their journey to yours. Comparing spiritual experiences can be exciting when you are sharing information! But, doing so can also sometimes have some.... less than desirable perspectives created and maybe even negative self talk. We can often find ourselves wondering why we aren't experiencing spiritual happenings the same way as others. We start to doubt our own ability.
It's important to know that just because someone else sees your experience as insignificant, that doesn't mean it is. Just because someone else is able to explain their experience in better words, doesn't make the one you had any less magical. Just because you practice differently, come to awareness's at a different times, ect, does not make you below anyone. There is no right or wrong way to go about anything. But sometimes we open ourselves to negative energy from others by oversharing. Keeping a journal of your experiences can be a great way to keep your connection to your experiences alive!
